Natura Sleep Envelope Review

If you add it up over a course of a lifetime, we spend a good amount of time in our beds. And without a doubt we know the importance a good night's sleep. I can tell you that when this mom does not sleep well, she is not a happy camper the next day. Poor sleep can really affect so many aspects of our day to day lives.

In 1994, father and son Harry and Ralph Rossdeutscher founded Natura in order to find a solution that would "help people sleep well in order to live better." Using natural materials, Natura offers everything you need to build a comfortable bed: mattresses, comforters, pillows, mattress pads and more. From babies to kids to adults, they have everyone covered.

I had never heard of a sleep envelope when I was contacted for this review, but it sure did sound warm and comfortable. The Natura Sleep Envelope is made up of 2 components: a mattress pad and a comforter. Both are wrapped in 100% cotton and filled with Natura Smart Wash Wool. When I received this last summer it was just starting to heat up and we do not have central air conditioning. So I was a little nervous about reviewing a wool comforter and mattress pad because when I think of wool I only think warm. However I was assured by Natura that the sleep envelope could be used on hot nights. The wool in both pieces wicks away moisture and helps regulate body temperature.

Three of my boys share a room: the 3.5 year old twins and the 15 month. Yes, it is insane. We are fortunate that their room is big and in addition to two toddler beds and a crib, we also have a twin bed in that room. I spent a good amount of time sleeping in that bed last year when I would go into to nurse the baby during the night. So my sleep envelope really got a lot of use. I am one of those people that no matter how hot it is, I need to have something covering my body. I was still a little skeptical of using a wool comforter in the summer, but I truly was pleasantly surprised. Even with the window A/C unit on in this big room, it would stay rather warm in there until the sun had been down for a while. So basically at 8:00pm when the kids would go to bed it was still hot but by midnight it would be cold. For me, this is when my Natura Sleep Envelope really proved to me that it actually does when it says it will. I slept seamlessly and comfortable and never woke up sweating or shivering. I have continued to use it through the Fall and Winter have been extremely pleased.

While I don't spend much time in that bed anymore (hooray for sleeping through the night!) I will occasionally cuddle up with one of my boys in there and we get nice and comfy. And when it is time to get clean, both the comforter and mattress pad are machine washable. No hassles, just nice and easy.

  3. I like the sounds of that! The wool tricked me too. Who would have thunk it would work in the summer?

  6. This looks like a great bedding. I like that it takes moisture away when the weather gets warmer. I guess because of that you would have to wash them more?

  7. I honestly didn't notice the need to wash it more often. But I also wasn't sleeping in it all night, probably more like half the night.

  8. I always need something covering me up too - and a sheet alone just won't do. Thanks for sharing!
