Make it a Minecraft Holiday with Best Buy

The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free. This post contains affiliate links and the reviewer will receive a commission if you click on a link and make a purchase.

I have to admit, when my boys first got into Minecraft a few years ago, I just didn't get it. OK, fine, I still don't really get the appeal if I am honest, but all four of them love it as so I make the best of it. Minecraft is a game about placing blocks (or removing them) to build awesome world. Players can play in Creative Mode with unlimited resources to build whatever they want or play in Survivor mode where they have to fend off enemies. I think what my boys love the most is that they can play on their own or together, all though playing together some time causes arguments. And by arguments I mean they go into each others worlds and destroy things. Sigh. Now I still might not quite "get it", but I do love that it is a family friendly game that they all enjoy.

One of the most popular items I have seen this holiday shopping season is the Xbox One S Minecraft bundle. I first saw these pop up on Black Friday ads back in November and immediately new I had to get one for our family. (I bought mine fromBest Buy on Thanksgiving). What's so great about this bundle is not only that it comes with all the Minecraft games preloaded, but also that the new Xbox One S plays 4K Blu-ray™ movies. That feature alone sold me. This bundle is available right now at Best Buy for just $249.99. which is a $50 savings off the regular price.

Now if the Minecraft lover in your life already has all the games, there are plenty of Minecraft toys and collectibles that he or she would love. There are mini figures and playsets, card games and even drones, so there is something for everyone in every price range. Take a look at all of the Minecraft Gifts available at Best Buy.

What Minecraft gifts are you grabbing this holiday season?

Shop For Energy Star Certified Washers & Dryers at Best Buy #bbyed #EarthDay

The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free. This post contains affiliate links and the reviewer will receive a commission if you click on a link and make a purchase.

Every April as Earth Day nears, many of us wonder what little things (or big things) we can do in our home to benefit the environment. Recycling, composting and conserving are all fairly easy things that come to mind. A big way to save both energy and water is buy replacing an old washer and dryer. A few years ago we replaced our top loading, 15 year old set (which died) with a front loading LG set and wow did we see a difference. Now I'm not saying you should toss a perfectly good, working appliance, but if you're in need of a replacement, Best Buy has a wide selection of Energy Star certified models to choose from. And remember that if your old model still works, there are plenty of places who would take it as a donation (my mom donated hers to a local animal shelter).

Why Energy Star?
I know it's common to wonder just how much of a difference and Energy Star certified washer or dryer can make over an older model that is not Energy Star. Here is a brief breakdown on what you can expect, then make sure you check out Earth Day on Best Buy for deals on Energy Star certified appliances.

Energy Star certified Washers:
  • On average, a new Energy Star certified clothes washer uses 280 KWh of electricity and can save you $40 a year on your utility bills compared to a standard model.
  • A full-sized Energy Star certified clothes washer uses 13 gallons of water per load, compared to the 23 gallons used by a standard machine, saving more than 3,000 gallons of water, per year!
  • Washers built before 2003 are significantly less efficient than newer models. If you have a standard clothes washer that is over 10 years old, it's costing you, on average $180 a year.

Energy Star certified Dryers
  • Use 20 percent less energy than conventional models without sacrificing features or performance
  • Use sensor drying, not timed drying. Energy Star dryer models incorporate advanced moisture sensors to help you reduce your dryer’s energy use. This feature ensures that your dryer will automatically shut off when clothes are dry
  • Longer drying cycles on a low heat setting use less energy. When you purchase an Energy Star certified clothes dryer, look in the informational materials shipped with the product for which cycle was tested for certification and how the dryer’s other cycles or settings may use more or less energy. (I personally always use the low heat setting on our Energy Star LG dryer).

A very cool new washer and dryer pairing to check out right now are the LG Twin Wash and Sidekick. The LG Twin Wash lets you was two loads of laundry at the same time. Hang on, that needs repeating: AT THE SAME TIME! That is simply awesome. While your full size load is working up top in the main tub, you can put a smaller load in the Sidekick pedestal. This is really perfect for things like delicates or even workout gear. I love this concept. As someone who is at the gym 4-5 days a week, I do a lot of smaller loads and honestly, it's wasteful. The Sidekick pedestal is just the right size for this. Plus the Sidekick can be paired with almost any LG front load washer, so you can add it to the model you already have at home.

SanDisk Memory for Back to School at Best Buy

The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free. This post contains affiliate links and the reviewer will receive a commission if you click on a link and make a purchase.

Part of me can't believe that school is just around the corner. It almost feels like the kids just got out for summer break a week ago. Almost. Alright that's not true at all, it feels like an eternity. When you have four kids all close in age, summer break soon turns into constant arguing and fighting and I'm looking forward to that first day back to school. So yes, I am excited that I have just nine days left until the new school year starts for us.

Of course, back to school time also means lots of back to school shopping. As the kids get older, the supply list can start to change from simple pencils and notebooks to tech gear. My oldest son is entering fifth grade where more assignments and homework are done digitally. Some school districts in our area even require every student to have a Chromebook or tablet. With all the technology our kids are using these days, purchasing additional memory has become a must.

SanDisk iXpand USB/Lightning Flash Drive

Best Buy has a wide selection of SanDisk memory to fit your back to school or everyday needs, whether it be a standard flash drive (which my son will absolutely need) or something a bit more advanced. The SanDisk store makes it easy to find the type of safe storage you need with a user friendly shopping experience. Simply click on the type of device you are looking to purchase a memory card for and the available options will be right there for you to compare.

SanDisk microSD Card

SanDisk's variety of memory products provide safe storage and advanced features for all of your digital devices:
  • The SanDisk iXpand flash drive allows you to transfer photos, videos and files between your iPhone or iPad and your PC or Mac computers. Plus it frees up iPhone and iPad memory with both lightning and USB connectors.
  • A SanDisk microSD card will allow you to carry more media and apps on your smartphone or tablet. It also give your smartphone or tablet a more responsive camera function and smoother media playback.
  • SanDisk Memory Cards for DSLR cameras and camcorders are over 10 time faster than ordinary cards and offer transfer speeds up to 80MB/.

SanDisk DSLR Memory Card

SanDisk products, from professional-grade camera memory to point-and-shoot SD cards to microSD cards, deliver industry-leading performance and reliability. SanDisk SD cards are also designed to meet the security, capacity, performance, and environmental requirements of next generation device.

Gift Giving Made Easy at Best Buy #WishList #GiftIdeas

The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free. This post contains affiliate links and the reviewer will receive a commission if you click on a link and make a purchase.

No matter what time of year it is, there is always something to be celebrated and someone to buy a gift for. Birthdays, graduations, weddings... it is a repeating cycle. While gift cards are always a safe go to for any of these occasions, sometimes you just want to put in a little more effort and get a gift the person truly wants. Best Buy has two ways to make shopping for that perfect gift much easier.

Gift Center
The perfect place to start your gift hunt is at the BestBuy.com Gift Center. Here you can browse for gifts based on price, age, occasion and more. This helps you quickly zero-in on the right gifts for the right people. Have a friend's birthday coming up who loves to have the latest tech? No problem, just click on the Top Tech Gifts tab to see what's popular right now. Or if you are a procrastinator like me who waits until the day before to get a gift put together, you can easily send an e-gift card from the Gift Center.

Wish List
As helpful as the Gift Center can be, sometimes you still are at a loss for what to give. The Wish List feature at BestBuy.com takes all of the guesswork out of gift giving and makes it easier for both the giver and receiver. Tell your friends and family to create and share a birthday wish list, so that you can get them the gifts that they really want this time around. It is simple and takes only a few minutes to set up and can be used for all occasions. With the holidays just around the corner (how did that happen?), getting started on wish lists now will have you ahead of the game and that much closer to finishing up the dreaded holiday shopping.

What upcoming occasions do you need to shop for? Would prefer to choose something yourself from the gift idea center or go right to what the person wants on their wish list?

Affordable Spring Fashion for Kids at OshKosh B'Gosh #ImagineSpring #IC

“I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for OshKosh B’Gosh. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.”

The first day of Spring has come and gone and despite the fact that there is still a foot of snow on the ground here, we are so excited for a warmer season! And warmer weather means it is time to get short sleeves and shorts in the closets. Now with four boys, I am thankfully able to hand down a lot of clothes to the younger ones, which saves me a considerable amount of money. We do need to purchase some new clothes every season for not just the oldest, but the whole lot as well because let's face it, boys destroy clothes. We are by no means fashion gurus in this house, but we do like to keep somewhat in style but within a reasonable budget. OshKosh B'gosh is a store I have shopped at since they were all teeny tiny things because I know I am getting good quality without breaking the bank.

While we have a Carter's store nearby, we sadly don't have an OshKosh one. But I am a heavy online shopper and OshKosh.com is a very easy use site that had me finding what I needed and placing my order in just minutes. The first section I always hit up is the clearance section. Here you can find already reasonably priced clothes at considerable savings. I found t-shirts for my boys for just $5.99 which is pretty amazing. And I know that I will get at least two to three seasons out of them because OshKosh apparel always holds up well for us.

In addition to the clearance items, even the new Spring items were marked down, up to 50% off! Everything I purchased was at least half off which led to an awesome bottom line for me. I ended up with 8 shirts and 3 pairs of shorts for under $90 when I used the coupon down below.

As you can see, one of the 7 year old's was excited to model his new ninja shirt. I knew that one was going to be a big hit.

Overall I was extremely pleased with my shopping experience and the items that I purchased. I will say that the size 12 shirts that I ordered for my 10 year old were a bit on the small side (a little short) which was a surprise to me because he wears a 10/12 in most brands and in past experience OshKosh runs on the bigger side for us. However with 3 younger brothers, they will get plenty of use so I am not worried about it.

Do you need to outfit your kids for Spring? Oshkosh has everything you could possible need for your boy or girl! Most new items are still on sale for up to 50% and the coupon below will give you an extra 25% off! It would be silly to pass up on this savings opportunity. Visit the Oshkosh Store Locator to find one near you or shop online at OshKosh.com.

I love my DSLR, a Cannon that is a few years old now, however I can't help but drool at some of the newer cameras out there. So I often default to taking photos with my iPhone since it allows me to instantly share wherever I want, something I can't do with my camera. I love that these cameras here come with WiFi capabilities for instant sharing.

Gift Your Family a Canon Camera from Best Buy This Holiday #CanonatBestBuy #HintingSeason

The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free.

As parents, aren't we always following our kids around trying to snap as many photos as possible so we can hold onto all of the memories they create? I'm sure it must drive our kids crazy, but it can't be helped. Snapping a quick picture with a camera phone is great but sometimes, you really want and need a high quality photo. Like for holidays, special occasions or maybe for your son's first hockey game, which happened for us over this past weekend. I still remember when my husband bought me my Canon Rebel XS a few years back. I was thrilled and admittedly overwhelmed by it since I had never used a DSLR camera before. Even now I don't know what I am doing half the time, but it still takes way better photos then any of our phones or point and shoot cameras ever took. And years  later it is still going strong. I feel like every family should have a DSLR in the house.

Best Buy is your go-to store for the latest cameras to capture your holiday memories. The Canon EOS Rebel T5i is one of the best-selling DSLRs. This camera makes advanced photography easy and fun, and gives you exceptional image quality, along with a host of features to enhance your creative expression.
• Capture Hollywood caliber full HD video
• Continuous autofocus while taking HD video
• Features an 18.0-megapixel CMOS sensor and a DIGIC 5 image processor to ensure vivid, crystal-clear images.
• The 3" vari-angle touch screen simplifies navigation.

Save $150 on the Canon EOS Rebel T5i at Best Buy*.  Visit Best Buy to learn more.

We are already a week into November and do you know what that means? It means the holiday shopping season is in full swing. With my boys getting older and wanting mostly more expensive gifts, I am always looking for good sales this time of year. This Saturday, November 8, 2014 from 1:00pm-4:00pm, Best Buy is having a one day in-store sale and shopping event. I'm excited for it and the chance to preview and shop the Holiday Collection from some of the biggest brands including Apple, Microsoft, Samsung and Sony.

GoPro Cameras at Best Buy #GoProatBestBuy

The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free.

As a mom, a good camera to capture all of my kids special moments and silly moments and just every day moments is an absolute must. It may be a cliche, but they really do grow up so fast and I want to be able to capture those memories for us to hold onto forever. And you know, possibly embarrass them down the road as teenagers. We are also entering a new phase of parenting and that is sports. Sure my kids have been playing hockey for years, but my nine year old, for the first time, will be on a travel hockey team. So a camera that can take fast paced action photos is absolutely going to  be on my Christmas list this year.

Review: Reebok #Skyscape Shoes at Kohl's #MC

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Reebok. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

http://www.kohls.com/product/prd-1625598/reebok-skyscape-runaround-walking-shoes-women.jsp

As moms, we tend to be on our feet a lot. In fact, the moments that we get to sit down and relax sometimes can be few and far between. So it important for us to find everyday shoes that are comfortable for our busy feet. With summer vacation in the very near future, a comfy shoe to run around town with my 4 boys is a must have. So I was excited when I had a chance to purchase a pair of Reebok Skyscape sneakers at Kohl's.

An everyday shoe for active and casual wear, Skyscape features 360 degrees of foam comfort in a fun, flirty silhouette that pairs perfectly with jeans, skirts or yoga pants and is so comfortable, you’ll forget you have it on.

Reebok Skyscape colors & patterns available at Kohls.com, starting at $64.99

Upon first glance online, I thought these looked a lot like Keds, but once I saw them in person I knew they were nothing alike. I went to my local Kohl's store so I could see the colors and try these on because there are some items I just can't order online. Shoes, bras and bathing suits being the main three (thank you wide feet). While Kohls.com offers a variety of colors and patterns shown above, my store only had the Pink and the Black. The Reebok Skyscape is made almost completely of foam which makes them so super soft and squishy. That soft foam allows the shoe to conform to the shape of your foot offering maximum comfort. And because of the seamless construction, there are no irritating seams rubbing up against your foot. This is ideal for the hot summer weather if you like to quickly throw shoes on without socks.

I have had my pair of Skyscapes for a couple of weeks now and I have been very pleased with them. I mentioned above that I am cursed with wide feet. Unfortunately, this Reebok shoe is not available in wide widths (I do hope they change that) so if you have super wide feet, these probably won't work for you. When I tried on my usual 8 in the store, they were definitely a bit too tight. However, I was able to go up half a size to an 8.5 and that fit good for me. (Please note that going up a size might not work for everyone). Now I went with the Black because since we are talking about an everyday shoe, I wanted something that would go with pretty much every outfit. The Pink are super cute, but would only mesh with a small percentage of my wardrobe.

So what have I been doing in my Skyscapes? Well I've been bringing the kids to the bus stop, going grocery shopping, walking the mall, spending countless hours at the baseball fields and then my favorite: hanging out on our deck. I can say that these shoes have been comfortable throughout it all. I am curious to see what happens when the super hot and humid weather hits. Will the foam make my feet sweaty? I'll just have to wait and see I guess. The Reebok Skyscape is also waterproof and machine washable and isn't that just music to your ears? I can't even begin to tell you how often things are spilled on me. And those baseball fields I mentioned? When they are dry, the clay dust gets on everything. When they are wet, the clay mud gets on everything. Knowing I can just toss these in the washer when I get home after a game is such a relief.

Relaxing in my black Reebok Skyscape shoes and Apt 9 Capri jeans, also from Kohl's.

Buy
The Reebok Skyscape Shoes are available both in Kohl's stores and online at Kohls.com starting at $64.99. Color availability may vary. Before doing any Kohl's shopping, be sure to check their website for any printable coupons and if you plan on ordering online, do yourself a huge favor and go through Ebates. Ebates will list any available coupon codes plus shopping trough their link will earn you 3% cash back.

Spring Fashion Tips from Kohl's #SpringAtKohls

I participated in a campaign for Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Kohl’s. I received a gift card as a thank you for participating.

I am so excited that Spring is finally here and I can put away the bulky sweaters and start shopping for cute Spring items to add to my wardrobe. The Kohl’s Spring Fashion Hangout provides tips on what is trending in fashion. Pink is in big this season and while I am generally hesitant to wear too much of it, I like the styles I have seen at Kohl's so far. With warmer weather finally hitting new England next week, I will be heading to my local Kohl's to get started on some much needed Spring shopping and add a little (or a lot) of pink to my closet. Be sure to watch the Kohl’s Spring Fashion Hangout and let me know what you think of this seasons trends.

Holiday Shopping for Kids at Target #MyKindOfHoliday #Giveaway

This post has been brought to you by Target. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

I have four young boys, which makes my holiday shopping absolutely insane. Between the amount of gifts I have to buy and all of my trips to the store, I am exhausted by the time Christmas finally rolls around. Target is one of my favorite stores to shop at year round but even more so at the holidays because they always have what I am looking for.

Earlier this Fall we got the Skylanders Swap Force game, but we are still in dire need of the swappable characters. Most of the other stores I looked at locally are sold out, so Target was my last hope. Luckily when I turned into the Skylanders/Infinity aisle, I saw it was still pretty packed.

Armed with my list of characters that Grammy already purchased I was able to find 4 of the new Swap Force swappable figures that we still needed. All 4 wound up in my cart.

Santa just happens to be bringing the boys the Disney Infinity for Xbox game this Christmas, so we are going to need a few of those characters too. Ya know, because the 50 Skylanders we already have isn't enough.  I'm not sure what Santa was thinking here. Target had a bunch of figures to choose from and thnakfully they had the only one I was looking for: Davy Jones.

Now as if the holidays alone weren't enough, 8 days before Christmas is also my youngest sons birthday. Which means even more shopping. I always find this a struggle because I start to run out of ideas for him. Since he is obsessed with Batman lately (he will be 4), I headed over to the DC Comics toys to see if I could find anything for him that didn't have 50 million little pieces.  And right there on the bottom shelf was a talking Batman doll - perfect! I can totally see him lying in bed with this while wearing his Batman pajamas, he's going to love it.

With that, I headed over to checkout with what was hopefully the last of my Christmas shopping. I felt rather satisfied after this shopping trip because I got everything I walked in the doors for. And luckily I had my husband with me to distract said youngest child so he didn't notice everything I was buying. In the end I purchased the 4 Swap Force figures, 1 Disney Infinity figure, talking Batman doll, 2 Minecraft dolls, DC themed Hotwheels cars, kid's toothpaste and a snack of Goldfish for my little monkey.

The second best part of this trip was being able to pay with my eGiftCard using the Target app on my iPhone. While I love shopping online, especially during the holidays when the stores are crowded, there are times I just prefer to shop in person. So it is pretty cool that now if I get an eGiftCard for Target, I can use it to shop in either place. And if you are struggling with those last few people on your holiday shopping list, you can't go wrong with a gift card.

Have you done any shopping for your children at Target this holiday season?

Back to School Shopping at Westfield Connecticut Post Mall #WestfieldB2S

Westfield provided compensation to facilitate our back to school shopping experience. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The school year is almost upon us here in Connecticut which means parents and children everywhere are heading to the malls for some back-to-school shopping. Now while I normally love shopping, having four young boys to buy for can be a little daunting for a few reasons.  The biggest of course is price. I have four growing bodies to outfit and four sets of supplies to tackle and the cost adds up super fast. The other problem is doing the actual shopping with four children because let’s be serious here, kids do not have the patience for shopping. Nor do husbands, I recently learned. However, shopping at the Westfield Connecticut Post Mall made the entire experience easier for us.

On Friday, August 16 Westfield invited me to their Connecticut Post location in Milford, Connecticut for a $250 back-to-school shopping spree and to experience their Best of B2S shopping event.  During this event, some of the stores were running back to school sales, the mall hosted family-friendly shows and events plus there was an Unlock to Win giveaway! Over in the center court of the mall there was a locker setup and you could then text to receive a code to try to open the locker for some great prizes like an iPad Mini! I would have loved to win another iPad since I am somewhat gadget obsessed.

The first store we headed to was The Children’s Place, who was a participant in the Best of B2S event. Armed with my gift card and a 20% coupon, I was ready to do some damage. I decided to let the boys each pick out a couple of shirts. We were looking through the long and short sleeve graphic tees when we spotted a table full of character tees. I don’t think I ever noticed they had these before and they all put down the shirts they were looking at and headed over to that table. They had an awesome selection of Star Wars, LEGO Ninjago, Super Mario Bros., Marvel Superheroes and more.

Generally, I shy away from licensed character t-shirts because they are more expensive. However, The Children’s Place was having a sale and these were marked down to $10 plus I had my coupon. So in the end they cost me $8 a piece which is awesome for the combined character aspect plus The Children’s Place quality.  If I would have let them, my kids would have bought every single shirt they had. But I had more shopping to do.

So I walked out of the store with 8 shirts and spent only $63 and I received $20 Place Cash for a future purchase. Plus with every Disney or Marvel shirt you bought, you got a free Phineas & Ferb school kit, which was a cute bonus. And yes if you look at the shirts we got, you will totally notice a “one of these things is not like the other” shirt mixed in there. The cute butterfly tee is for my 4 year old niece whom I adore. She is the only little girl in my life that I can buy stuff for so I indulge myself every now and then.

After we were finished at The Children’s Place, it was time for our lunch break. We headed over to the food court to figure out what to eat. With some pizza and salad from Sbarro’s and burgers, chicken tenders and a hot dog from Johnny Rockets, we sat down to devour our meal. We don’t do fast food often, so this is a special treat for us. And thankfully the food court here has a ton of seating so we had no problem finding a quiet spot for ourselves.

I mentioned earlier that Westfield was hosting some kid-friendly shows during their Best of B2S event and the show for this day was Spider-man. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect show for my superhero obsessed family. We watched Spider-man come down from the upper level and make his way through the crowd of kids gathered around the stage. Spider-man joked around with the kids and parents and then started a discussion about “Being Buddies and Not Bullies”. With crowd participation, he discussed the things kids can do if they are being bullied in school or anywhere really. This is such an important issue and I was thrilled that Westfield used a popular, fun character to talk to kids about this topic.

My final stop of the day was at my favorite store: Target. I love Target because I can find anything and everything I need there and for a great price. Which often means I walk out of the store with way more items than I intended to buy. On our shopping list for Target were some school supplies, some household items and a few t-shirts for mom. Hey, mom deserves back to school clothes too doesn’t she? After all the hard work parents go through to get their kids ready for school, they certainly deserve a little reward themselves.  I actually didn’t get to spend as much time in Target as I would have liked because not only were the kids getting whiny by this point in the afternoon, but so was dad.  So I sped through to the best of my ability.

I also came prepared with Target coupons plus my iPad with the new Target Cartwheel app. If you shop at Target, you need to download this app as it gives you additional coupons on top of print coupons and in store sales.  In the end we ended up with 2 backpacks for the twins (who begged and pleaded), some markers and crayons, a notebook for my blogging, hangers for their new shirts, straws, a PUR filter for our fridge, kid’s toothpaste, cologne for dad and two shirts for me. Oh and because my boys were such good sports throughout the entire day, I let them get a new Skylanders figure.  After The Children’s Place and lunch, we finished up our gift card here and the Target Cartwheel app saved me an additional $15 off my purchases.

Overall we had an awesome shopping experience at the Westfield Connecticut Post Mall. The amount of stores that are at this mall can be a little overwhelming at first, but if you have a shopping plan in place you should be good to go. And if you are shopping with the kiddies, don’t forget to check out the playspace on the lower level so they can burn off some of their energy and then hopefully nap on the way home. Even though the Best of B2S event is now over, there are still stores who are having back to school sales.

Sweepstakes
Now through August 31st  you can go to the Westfield Connecticut Post Facebook page and enter to win $1,000 for back to school shopping at the Westfield Connecticut Post Mall.
