Avishi Organics Intensive Repair Oil #Giveaway & Coupon Code

When I was pregnant with my first son, I was fortunate enough to escape with really no stretch marks. However with the twins, the pregnancy gods were not as kind to me. It wasn't really a big surprise since two babies equals extra stretching. Many women will spend a good amount of money on stretch mark creams to try and help lighten them. I stayed away from them because so many contain harmful or toxic chemicals.

Avishi Organics Intensive Repair Oil is a natural solution for stretch marks and scars. Not only will it reduce the appearance of stretch marks when used during your pregnancy, but it will also help fade any existing stretch marks that you may have. I am a big proponent of using only natural products on my skin, and this is even more important when pregnant since what you put on your body also affects your baby. The Avishi Organics Intensive Repair Oil is safe to use while pregnant and breastfeeding and does not contain chemicals, fragrances, colors, parabens, sulfates or other toxic ingredients.

"Made from pure botanical extracts and oils that are renowned for their powerful healing properties, Avishi’s Intensive Repair Oil is not watered down by cheap fillers such as mineral oil - a common ingredient in mainstream skincare products to bring down price-points. It is a powerhouse of potency and you can expect to see visible improvements in your stretch marks and scars within 8- 12 weeks."*

Moody Sisters Organic Skincare Review & Giveaway

One might say that I have a slight problem when it comes to natural and organic skincare products. My problem is that I always enjoy trying out new ones which leaves me with a bathroom cabinet overflowing with various items. I think my husband moans a little bit when he sees a new package arrive at our door.

Recently I was introduced to Moody Sister Organic Skincare. Right off the bat I knew I wanted to try their products because not only are they organic but they are also handmade by two sisters.

Founded by two sisters who are different as can be, even down to their skincare needs! Moody Sisters Organic Skin Care caters to “moody” skin. Moisturizers and cleansers designed for sensitive and troubled skin. Free of chemicals and preservatives, these are not only 100% organic and environmentally “green”, but vegan products as well!

Moody Sisters sent me a cute Sample Pack to test out which contains four .25 oz jars of some of their top selling item. In mine I received the Spicy Orange Face & Body Cream, Almond Face & Body Cream, Hydrating Cleanser and Lavender Powder Deodorant.

I used both cream on my body and I enjoyed them both. I love anything with a citrus smell, especially orange, so I really liked the scent of the Spicy Orange cream. The spice part of it was a really nice twist. It went on nice and smooth and not too greasy. The Almond cream has a much subtler scent and is also a little bit thicker. I liked using this on my really dry areas like knees and elbows. Both of these creams are for normal to dry skin. Keep in mind that if you are allergic to almonds you should avoid and of their almond products.

The Hydrating Cleanser has a little bit of a mint scent to it which is nice. This is not like a typical cleanser that is going to give you lather with lots of bubbles. In fact there are no bubbles at all, this is more of a cream cleanser. You massage it right onto your wet face, rinse and then remove any access cleaners wit a wet washcloth. This is best for dry or eczema prone skin. The Hydrating Cleaners left my face feeling very soft and definitely moisturized. I have oily skin so I have been using this two times a week to give myself a moisture boost when needed.

I was a little hesitant to try the Lavender Powder Deodorant because I am not a fan of lavender. In all honestly, I usually hate it and it gives me a headache. But I thought what the heck and twisted open the jar to take a whiff. The lavender scent is not overpowering at all and it didn't bother me. In fact I even kind of liked it. So I went ahead and put some on. This is a loose powder so I used my fingertips to apply it under my arms which seemed to get the job done. I applied a lot as I have never used powder before and wasn't sure how much I needed. Keep in mind that this is NOT an antiperspirant so you will still sweat. The goal here is keep the odor causing bacteria at bay and have you smelling like a lavender flower instead of an onion. I put it on after I showered right before bed, then again in the morning when I woke up. Its been a hot week plus I have been doing my 20 Second Fitness workouts every day, so it really got put to the test. By midday I did notice a little stink creeping in so I don't know that I will permanently switch from my current natural deodorant. Though I think I might try a combo of the two and see how that goes.

All of the Moody Sisters Organic Skincare products are 100% organic and tested only on themselves and their husbands. The deodorants are also Paraben free which is great since Parabens, a preservative, have been linked to breast cancer and found in breast cancer tumors. Some of their products are even vegan free like the body wash and eye makeup remover. For long term storage, some of the products do better in the fridge so be sure to read the product labels and directions!

The Moody Sisters also offer a recycling incentive program. If you send them back your empty, clean bottles, they will give you a $2.00 discount off your next order.

Overall I was very pleased with my Moody Sister Organic Skincare products and I am very happy to have them be a part of my skincare stash.

OrganicaPure Skin Care Review

It is rare that I get a chance to pamper myself, even just a little bit. My 4 young boys sure do keep me busy. As a result I have come to really cherish the 15 minutes I get every day for a quick shower. OK, sometimes its more like every other day. So I am always excited to try out a natural skin care product and spoil myself for a change.

OrganicaPure is a skincare line born from the obsessive and constant pursuit for purity. Our products harness the power of three simple, yet powerful ingredients: Cocoa, Honey, and Aloe Vera. OrganicaPure utilizes the knowledge and research conducted on the benefits of these three ingredients and combines them to produce high quality skincare products.

If you read my post on checking the toxicity of your beauty products than you know how important I think it is to eliminate the use of chemical products on our skin and bodies. So when I was introduced to OrganicaPure I was excited about the natural skin care they offer and couldn't wait to give them a try.

The first item I was sent was the Aloe Vera & Honey Body Scrub. "While the scrub sloughs off dead skin cells and renews your skin, aloe and honey work together to clean, soften, and revitalize." I have to admit that at first the scent, while pleasant, was very strong and that made me nervous. So I double checked the ingredients and when I noticed "fragrance" listed there I became extra super nervous since many times the word fragrance means some sort of synthetic, chemical fragrance has been used. However a quick look on the OrganicaPure FAQs page and I found that all of their fragrances are from pure essential oils. Phew. So this body scrub comes in a large pump bottle which I have to say I love since that makes it super easy to use in the shower. I have some pretty dry skin and areas like me knees and elbows can get pretty rough. I have been using this scrub pretty much all love my limbs, but really concentrating on those rough spots and I am very happy with the results.

I was also sent the Mint Cocoa & Honey Body Lotion. Anything with cocoa or chocolate in it is a big winner in my book, even if I can't eat it. "We've combined Mayan's finest cocoa with highest quality honey to nourish dry skin without oily residue. As a finishing touch, we've infused a hint of mint into our body lotion to revitalize your skin." I really enjoy how nicely this lotion goes on it leaves my skin feeling smooth. I really hate when I put on lotion and then my hands are left feeling greasy but that doesn't happen with this OrganicaPure lotion. The mint also gives it a very pleasant and rejuvenating scent. No it does not smell like chocolate, which is good because then I would want to eat my hands all day long. This is the perfect accompaniment to their body scrubs which will get off all of that dead skin and then you can hop out of the tub or shower and cover yourself in the lotion to moisturize. Its like I have my own little spa in my bathroom.

In addition to several body scrubs and lotions, OrganicaPure also offers body wash, body butter, anti-stretchmark cream, facial cleanser and shampoo. If you need to pamper yourself with some spa quality products, I definitely think you should check out OrganicaPure. Their products could also make a very lovely Mother's Day gift. They also offer free shipping on orders over $40.00.

Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion Review & Giveaway

One of the side effects of the brutal New England winters for us is dry skin. Every winter all four of my boys end up with eczema. One of the twins also suffers from keratosis pilaris which will often flare up during these colder months. While I too will battle dry skin, this year I had a big problem with my hands being extremely dry and even cracking and bleeding. So I am always on the lookout for natural skincare to help keep us all nicely moisturized.

I have heard really good things about Skin MD Natural in the past so I was really excited to try it out. Unlike traditional lotions, this shielding lotion duplicates your skin's protective barrier thus protecting you from harsh irritants that cause dry skin in the first place.

"Skin MD Natural uses a blend of natural ingredients in combination with significant recent scientific advances to hydrate and help heal dry skin without any greasy residue, harsh fragrances, or other potentially toxic ingredients. Conventional lotions simply attempt to replace lost moisture with artificial moisture.".

The first thing I did was add Skin MD Natural do our bath time routine. So one by one as each boy got out of the tub (shower for the 6 year old) I would cover their bodies with some of this. I immediately noticed how smoothly it went on and I that I did not need to use a lot to get good coverage. Skin MD Natural boasts about being non-greasy and this is very true. There was no need for me to wipe my hands on a towel after applying. And I have to point out that the 6 year old who normally hates when I put any moisturizer on him, really liked this one.

But I think the person who probably needed this the most was me. I mentioned how bad my hands were, I don't remember them ever being so dry and cracked before. So I started putting a nice daily coating on my hands that would quickly absorb in and within a few days I could feel the improvement. Now I just need to remember to keep putting it on every day!

Eco-Friendly
Skin MD Natural uses natural ingredients, does not use any animal products and is not tested on animals. However, they did not stop there. What also makes this product and company great is that they use eco-friendly manufacturing practices. Both the Skin MD Natural and Skin MD Natural + SPF 15 are manufactured in the USA using 100% solar power. Wouldn't it be awesome of more companies did this?! I really love that and I can only hope that more businesses start using renewable energy like this in the very near future.

Sparkle Naturals Skin Care for Tweens Giveaway CLOSED

It seems that there is a great selection of all natural personal care products on the market these days. I think it is awesome that the green revolution has taken off and it is easier to find natural products for babies, young children and adults. However, there is a group in between that seems to have been forgotten. Tweens. At the ages of 9-12, our typical tween will no longer want to use "kid" types of shampoos and soaps but they can't necessarily use adult stuff either. Their bodies and skin are changing which requires something that is formulated just for them. But as their parent, you don't want to buy them something loaded with chemicals which leaves you in a difficult position of wondering what the heck to get for them.

Sparkle Naturals is a brand new line of all natural skin care for tweens and teens. Sparkle Naturals was founded by two sisters who realized there were very few natural products available for the tween market and wanted to fill the gap between natural baby products and adult products. They worked closely with young girls in this age group to produce a full line of beauty items which are not only safe for them, but visually appealing to them as well. I happen to love the bright, fun colors - especially the purple.

At Sparkle Naturals you will find hair care, facial care and bath & body care products all of which are made from non-toxic, organic ingredients and are free of animal products, sulfates, parabens, synthetic fragrances and artificial colorants. They even have some fun accessories like the Butterfly Bath Sponge that I really want to get for myself. I LOVE butterflies! I also like that a lot of their products like the shampoos and bath gel are available in unscented or "sweet tart." It is nice to have an unscented option for those who might be sensitive to even all natural fragrances. And the sweet tart fragrance is a sweet citrus smell made from 100% pure essential oils.

I also think it is essential for us to teach our children the importance of what we put on our bodies and how it affects us. We're not going to sit down with our babies and lecture them on why we use all natural products for them. The tween years seem like a really good time to start. We need them to understand why they should use all natural products so that they can continue to do this for their lifetime. Sparkle Naturals is a great way to get them involved in their own personal care.

If you are shopping for a young girl, Sparkle Naturals is sure to be a huge hit. These fun, hip products will make her happy while the all natural ingredients will make mom and dad happy.

Exederm Ultra Sensitive Skincare for Eczema Review & Giveaway

My 3 older boys all suffer from eczema in some form. It is usually seasonal and appears most often in the cold winter months. The combination of hard water and cold dry air just drys out their skin so much. One of my twins, Luke, has a different skin ailment called Keratosis Pilaris. Unfortunately he has this year round, though it is worse in the winter. Keratosis Pilaris is small, rough bumps on the skin that primarily appear on the back of the upper arms. It can also occur on thighs and buttocks and even face, as you can see in the picture of my son's cheek below (he has it on all the body parts I mentioned). This is hereditary and unfortunately there is no cure for it and the suggested treatments really do not do much. From what I have read most children will outgrow it by adulthood, but what concerned me was that Keratosis Pilaris on the face can sometimes lead to permanent scaring.

I had read several rave reviews from parents of children with eczema about the Exederm skin care line. So I reached out to them to test it out for my boys, especially Luke. Exederm ultra sensitive skin care has a very simple philosophy: avoid irritants that trigger eczema and always use the mildest ingredients possible. All of their products are free of
Fragrance
Color or Dyes
Parabens
(SLS) Sodium Laureth Sulfate
Lanolin
(CAPB) Cocamidopropyl Betaine
Propylene Glycol
Phthalates

We believe that exederm is a simply sensible approach for anyone with eczema, dermatitis and dry or sensitive skin. With exederm it's possible to gently cleanse, to deeply moisturize and get smoother and healthier skin - without using unnecessary chemicals.

In 2008, Exederm received 12 separate "Seal of Acceptance" awards from the National Eczema Association to acknowledge their ultra sensitive formulations. Exederm has a wide range of products for adults including moisturizers, washes and even haircare. They also have a line for babies/kids.

I feel very fortunate because Exederm was super generous and sent me the entire baby line to try out. I did not have any expectations that this would clear Luke's condition because I know that there is nothing that will do that. I just wanted to use products on him that would be less irritating to his super sensitive skin and if I was lucky improve it even just a tiny bit. The baby line consists of baby bath (body wash), baby shampoo, baby oil, baby lotion and baby moisturizer. Let me first say that I love that these products do not contain any nasty chemicals or irritants. Even some of the "natural" baby products out there will have irritants like Cocamidopropyl Betaine in them.

I have been using these products during every bath time since I received them, particularly on Luke and new baby Daniel, and I am extremely pleased with the results. Both the wash and shampoo lather pretty nicely considering there is no SLS in there, and that is usually one of my biggest complaints when it comes to natural products. It gets everyone nice and clean. The lotion and moisturizer are great to put on right after the bath to lock in moisture. Now I don't really use baby oil often, but I read an interesting suggestion on the bottle. Add a little bit to the bath water to moisturize the skin more. I had never even thought to do that before. Just be careful because it tends to make bath toys a little bit slippery. I also use the baby oil on my baby's scalp. He is 3 months old now and has a little flaking on his scalp. So at the start of the bath I put some of the baby oil in his hair and I let it soak in for a few minutes. Then I gently scrape some of the flakes off with my nail and wash out. (Luke had the same thing as a newborn and my pediatrician gave me those instructions). It is clearing up a little more with each application.

As I said I didn't expect for this to clear Luke's Keratosis Pilaris. I was just looking for something that would be less irritating to his super sensitive skin and would help with my other boys' winter eczema. There was no change to Luke's skin condition, but I do feel that the Exederm products help to minimize flare ups. As for his twin brother Joshua and my oldest William, it worked really well for the dry skin they have during the colder months. They both will have dry skin all over but then tend to get scaly eczema patches on the back of their arms. By using all of the products, especially the lotion and moisturizer, I was able to eliminate those patches. My problem is with 4 boys to bathe at a time, I sometimes get so crazed that I forget to moisturize. Skipping that will just be counterproductive so it is important to moisturize every sing day. Especially after baths.

Good For You Girls Tween & Teen Skincare Giveaway & Discount

As your daughter approaches her tween/teen years, you may find yourself wanting to discuss with her the proper ways to care for her skin. It is not only important to explain to them what they should be doing, like washing and moisturizing, but it is so important to give them the proper tools to do so. You certainly don't want your sweet girl to put products containing toxic chemicals on her skin and unfortunately, it can be hard to find natural alternatives. This is where Good For You Girls comes in!

Good For You Girls is a line of all natural skincare for tween and teen girls. Her first skin care should be safe and natural. Good For You Girls offers premium skincare designed specifically for the unique needs of girls age 9-15. The company was started by friends Kim and Grace who were looking for natural skincare products for their young daughters. Since they did not have any luck finding what they needed, they decided to create their own!

Philosophy
At Good For You Girls™, we believe beautiful skin is natural skin. Chemicals found in standard skincare products enter our bodies through the skin. These chemicals are not only irritating to many individuals, but also over time have proved to be harmful. We believe health should never be sacrificed for beauty. We also believe good habits start at a young age. It is our responsibility to educate our children to the dangers of chemicals in the world and in the products they use. At Good For You Girls™, we are committed to making truly effective skincare without harmful or questionable ingredients. Our products contain good-for-your-skin ingredients that are both beneficial and beautifying. By creating Good For You Girls™ skincare, we hope to give girls the confidence to face the world, knowing how truly beautiful they are on the inside and the outside.

In addition to using all natural ingredients, they also make sure to use recyclable packaging and all products are 100% Vegan. The Good For You Girls product line consists of 4 items, all 4 oz each:

Gel Cleanser: soap-free, gel cleanser gently washes away daily dirt and grime without stripping or irritating skin.

Blemish Wash: helps deep clean pores and fight bacteria naturally.

Purifying Toner: Alcohol free toner combines witch hazel, organic aloe vera gel and antimicrobial meadowsweet extract to deep clean pores while soothing organic botanicals like chamomile and calendula help balance skins delicate pH.

Moisturizer: lightweight facial moisturizer absorbs instantly to help protect against moisture loss without clogging pores.

The best way to get started, I think, is to try out the Complete Skin Care Kit. This kit contains 2oz bottles of three of the items mentioned above: the Gel Cleanser, Toner and Moisturizer. "Our simple, three-step process of cleansing, toning and moisturizing will effectively clean skin of impurities, balance pH, and help to protect from the elements leaving only clean, luminous, naturally beautiful skin. These three products are designed to compliment each other and work together harmoniously." The items in this kit should last approximately 4 months.
