Hot Toys Prize Pack #Giveaway from MGA Entertainment #HolidayShowcase

Does your holiday shopping revolve around toys, toys and more toys? With four children of my own and a lot of nieces and nephews, I spend a lot of time (and money) shopping for toys this time of year. MGA Entertainment makes a lot of popular brands of toys including Little Tikes, Lalaloopsy and Bratz. Little Tikes I am very familiar with as we have quite a few of their outdoor toys in our yard and garage. Since I am a mom of only boys, my knowledge of things like Bratz and Lalaloopsy is pretty nonexistent. However I do know that my four year old niece loves Lalaloopsy and whenever I see or hear a commercial for it, I am stuck singing it for the next five days.

Need some more toys to stick under the tree this Christmas? Below is your chance to win a prize pack of toys from MGA Entertainment, valued at $258.

Giveaway
One (1) lucky winner will receive a prize pack which includes the following:
• Three (3) Action Adventures Robot flashlights
• Four (4) Lalaloopsy bundles
• Four (4) Bratz Catz
Total Prize Value: $258

Giveaway is open to US and Canada residents only and will end on December 10, 2012 at 12:01am EST. Please use the Rafflecopter form below. Good luck!

I Love Black Friday Shopping

I am not ashamed to admit that I am addicted to Black Friday shopping. After the total bust that was Black Friday 2011, I was determined to get in a good shop this time around. My sister-in-law (and partner in crime) and I had a good game plan set once again. For weeks we went over (and over) the adscans on BFads.net and yes, we both have the mobile app on our iPhones. Let me tell you, that app is great for making your list and being able to carry it with you on your phone.

So we started off at our local Walmart at about 7:45 PM Thanksgiving evening. It was pretty peaceful compared to the hell that was the other Walmart in 2011 that is just a few towns away. We grabbed the stuff we wanted, said hi to  my neighbor and were on our way by 8:30. Next stop? Target. I was thrilled that we made it with time to spare for their 9"00 opening. we waited outside in the cold for 20 minutes, let a stranger take our annual Black Friday photo and then made our way inside. Target by far has the most organized black Friday shopping experience and it makes me love them even more. Once again, we were out done and back in my van within 30 minutes.

It is at this point where we made a critical error. We needed to hit Walmart again for their 10:00 PM deals. But instead of driving back to the one in our town, we decided to go to the one next door to target. The hell one that I mentioned earlier. Biggest. Mistake. Ever. It was pure and utter chaos. It took us about an hour to get out with the one item that we needed. It would have taken far less time to drive back to the first store. Lesson learned. We vowed never to go there on Black Friday again.

Our next store was Kohl's for their midnight opening. There is a brand spanking new Kohl's in our town and for whatever reason, hardly anyone was their for the Black Friday doorbusters. We enjoyed a nice leisurely stroll through the store while I grabbed Imaginext toys for $50 off plus Star Wars Angry Birds underwear. And since Kohl's is so awesome, I even got to use two coupons on my order, saving me even more.

Our last stop was Game Stop which ended up being kind of a bust. I bought a few pre-owned games in the buy 2 get 1 free deal, but ended up returning them the next day since i was able to get them cheaper online and brand new.

At the end of the night, we had my minivan pretty full of loot. I was rater impressed with our haul. But most importantly, I had an awesome time with one of my dearest friends.

I got back home around 1:30 AM, which is pretty early considering. I'd like to say I went to sleep at this point, but I didn't. Instead I shopped online deals for the next 90 minutes. But I got all but one thing on my list and for that, I was a happy shopper.

Of course we are now suffering from the post-Black Friday blues. The letdown after the adrenaline rush is such a bummer.

How did you make out this Black Friday? Is it an addiction for you like it is for me?

Let eBay Help You With Your Holiday Shopping

Thanks to my Black Friday shopping extravaganza last wee, the majority of my Christmas gift shopping is over and done with. Every year I wait for that big day to start my shopping and then after that I fill in what is still needed. eBay is a great way to wrap up your holiday shopping, especially for those hard to find items on your list. Last Christmas I used eBay to order a Thanos Super Hero Squad figure for one of our twins, and that little guy was probably his favorite gift. Stumped on what to get someone and looking for a little inspiration? Check out the eBay Gift Guide to help find the perfect gift. The guide lists all of the popular gifts and lets you search  by both recipient and price.

It is even easier to shop on eBay now with the eBay Mobile App. The app is available for iPhone/iPad, Android, Blackberry and windows phone. I downloaded the eBay app to my iPhone last year for the holidays and have been using it ever since. And i did in fact buy that Thanos figure I mentioned through it. The app is really easy to use and it lets you keep right on top of your bidding so you don't miss out on an item.

I have put together a list of ten gifts I still need to purchase for my family. All of which can easily be found on eBay.

My eBay Gift List
1. Husband - Timex Men's Expedition Combo Watch
2. Seven Year Old - Beyblade Destroyer Dome Set
3. Five Year Old Son - Power A Skylander Zip Case
4. Other Five Year Old Son - Star Wars Angry Birds AT-AT Attack
5. Three Year Old - Fisher-Price Imaginext Eagle Talon Castle Playset
6. Sister-in-Law - Amazon Kindle 6" E Ink Display

Save on Healthy Living Products at Vitacost plus $50 Gift Card Giveaway

One thing I have had to adjust to while trying to lead a more green and healthy lifestyle is the cost. It is no secret that natural and organic products come with a higher price tag. The one website that has really helped me save money over the past few years is Vitacost.

Vitacost offers an insanely huge variety of healthy living products at a discounted price. From vitamins to foods to beauty products and everything in between. I have been shopping there for a at least two years now and it is where I buy all of our natural personal care products. The discounted prices they offer have helped me keep the costs down to a reasonable level. Below is a snap shot of some of my recently ordered items so that you can see the discounts.

As you can see, these are significant discounts, ranging from 23% discount on dryer sheets to 46% discount on my shampoo. And that shampoo bottle will last me a long time. During the summer when I have four kids to lather sunscreen on every day, Vitacost is a life saver for me as I stock up on at least four bottles. If there are items that you buy on a regular basis, you can take advantage of their "Set & Save" program which gives you an additional 10% off for scheduling future deliveries. Plus they always offer free shipping on orders over $49.

My orders from Vitacost always arrive quickly and they always take great care in their packing. All containers holding liquids are taped shut so that they do not open and spill inside the box.

You can find pretty much anything you need for your healthy lifestyle at Vitacost. On a gluten-free diet? They have a large selection of gluten-free products for you to choose from. Need some natural pet food for your furbabies? They have all of that too. It is defintely a site to check out and your wallet will thank you for it.

Giveaway
Two (2) winners will each receive a $50 gift card to Vitacost.com. Giveaway is open to US residents only and will end on December 6, 2012 at 12:01 AM EST. Please use the Rafflecopter form below. Good luck!

Please note that the opinions and views expressed in this review are my own and based on my personal experience with the product and/or company. You may encounter a different experience with this than I did. I received free product to review.

Personalized Gifts for Everyone at Personal Creations

I sort of have a love/hate relationship with gift shopping. I love shopping for my family however sometimes I struggle with finding that perfect gift. Sometimes this leads me to going round and round in circles, which takes some of the fun out of it. Personal Creations has unique personalized gifts for every person and every type of occasion, including Christmas and anniversary gifts.

My husband tends to be one of the more difficult people to shop for because he is constantly telling me not to get him anything. Which is just unacceptable. Luckily within just a few minutes of browsing the Personal Creations website, I found a perfect gift for him. He has a love of watches, so I knew he would like the Watch Box to organize and display them.

This faux leather box holds up to ten watches with velvet lining. The glass lid can be laser engraved with a 3-letter monogram. It also has a lock and two keys if you want to keep little hands out of it. The engraving is big and bold and looks really great with the watch display beneath it. I am definitely very pleased with this.

Some of my favorite gifts at Personal Creations are their mugs. Mugs make great, inexpensive gifts for teachers, coworkers, friends, etc. and they have a large selection to choose from. Since my husband is always borrowing my special coffee mug, I decided to get one for myself that he wouldn't want to use and that screams that is belongs to me.

The Rhinestone Initial Bistro Mug is a ceramic mug that holds 15 ounces. It is available in red, black, purple or pink and is personalized with any single script initial in rhinestones. This can't go in the dishwasher but it is so worth it for the bling factor. I love my pretty little sparkly mug!

Whether you are shopping for your spouse or your child's teacher this holiday season, you are bound to find a unique personalized gift that is just perfect for them from Personal Creations.

Raising Preemie and RSV Awareness #protectpreemies #rsv

Prematurity Awareness Day is Saturday, November 17 and we need to speak up for premature babies. Every year, 13 million babies are born early worldwide, including more than half a million in the United States. Premature birth disrupts a baby’s development in the womb, often stunting the growth of some of the body’s most critical organs. These babies are at an increased risk of serious medical complications and regularly face weeks or sometimes months in the NICU. Since their immune systems and lungs aren’t fully developed, preemies are more likely to develop infections and are more susceptible to respiratory problems., particularly RSV.  RSV often causes relatively minor symptoms that mimic the common cold, but preemies are at a higher risk for developing much more serious symptoms, including a serious respiratory infection.

While I was fortunate that none of my children were born prematurely, I am very familiar with RSV and a newborn. When my youngest son was just two weeks old, he came down with what I thought was a cold. I brought him to the pediatrician just to be safe, not at all expecting what would happen next. After hearing my newborn wheezing and listening to his lungs, the pediatrician immediately sent us to the local hospital. When we were there, the nurses tested him for various viruses and when our doctor got there and he informed me that my son tested positive for RSV.

And that was when panic set in. Because I knew how dangerous RSV can be in a newborn. I had never been more scared in my entire life. We were transferred to a children's hospital later that night where my little man and I spent the next four days. Watching that little body in a hospital room with oxygen blowing over his nose and mouth while hooked up to machines monitoring his oxygen level was gut wrenching. After the first 48 hours, which I was told were the most dangerous, he started to get better. Eventually he came off the oxygen and after a day free of that, we were able to go home. It was by far the most difficult experience I've had as a mother and I wish no one else would ever have to go through it.

How much do you know about RSV? Below is an infographic with some facts, prevention tips and symptoms to look for.

Arm & Hammer Baking Soda Home & Beauty Tips

During the holiday season, you probably use Arm & Hammer Baking Soda for making cookies and other holiday baking. But did you know that baking soda has so many uses beyond cooking? When I started down my green living path five yeas ago, one of the first things I learned is that baking soda can make a great natural cleaner. Not only can you use it to clean up around the house, you can also use Arm & Hammer Baking Soda to tend to some of your personal care needs. With the holiday season upon us, baking soda provides an inexpensive and natural way to spruce up our homes and pamper ourselves while prepping for holiday guests. Check out these six tips.

Prep Your Home

These household uses for baking soda will help you get your home ready for guests.

Freshest Flavor - Be sure to keep an open box of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda in your refrigerator to ensure the freshest tasting ingredients for holiday entertaining.  This is especially important when storing garlic, onions or fresh holiday herbs and spices, which will transfer flavors to more delicate vegetables, meats and cheeses in the fridge.  Be sure to change the box once a month for optimal freshness.

Food Safe Surface Cleaning - Clean your food prep area and tools with natural, food safe Arm & Hammer Baking Soda instead of harsh cleaners. Sprinkle Arm & Hammer Baking Soda onto a clean damp sponge or cloth and wipe clean, rinse thoroughly and then dry.  Great for counters, stainless steel sinks, cutting boards, microwaves, wooden spoons, oven tops, range hoods and more.

Freshen Upholstery - Before guests arrive, remove lingering odors for fresh-smelling upholstered sofas and chairs with Arm & Hammer Baking Soda. Sprinkle baking soda on upholstery, wait 15 minutes and vacuum up.

Pamper Yourself

Whether you are exhausted from holiday shopping and need something to relax you or you want to make sure you shine for family photos, these tips will help do the trick.

Exfoliating Pedicure - Blend 2 tablespoons of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda in a basin of warm water. After a nice soak, make a scrub using 3 parts Arm & Hammer Baking Soda and 1 part water. Follow with an application of a rich moisturizer and a warm towel foot wrap. Let sit for 5-10 minutes. Feet will feel smooth and clean.

Facial Scrub and Body Exfoliant - For smooth, radiant skin, give yourself a gentle facial and body scrub with Arm & Hammer Baking Soda.  Make a paste of 3 parts Arm & Hammer Baking Soda to 1 part water.  Consider enhancing the treatment by including 1 part ground oatmeal. Rub in a gentle circular motion to exfoliate skin and remove dead skin cells. (Be careful to avoid eye area.)  Rinse clean with warm water.  Leaves skin feeling nourished and refreshed. Gentle enough for daily use!

Hair Care Help - Get rid of product buildup by sprinkling a small amount (quarter-size) of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda into your palm along with your favorite shampoo.  Shampoo as usual and rinse thoroughly.  The Arm & Hammer Baking Soda helps remove the residue that styling products leave behind so your hair is cleaner and more manageable.

So what is my favorite way to use Arm & Hammer Baking Soda? I would have to say I love using it to scrub the bathtub and shower. Soap scum is not fun to clean up, but the abrasiveness of baking soda really does it well. It is definitely one of my favorite ingredients for not only baking but cleaning as well. I always have at least 4 boxes of Arm &b Hammer Baking Soda in my house at any given time. One in each refrigerator, one in the pantry and one under the kitchen sink.

What other ways do you use baking soda around your home?

I wrote this review while participating in an Blog Tour campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Arm & Hammer and received product samples to facilitate my post and a promotional item to thank me for participating.

Wordless Wednesday: Cloudy Sunrise

Last week I caught a pretty cool picture of a cloudy sky at sunrise.

Seventh Generation Baby Bath & Body Products Review & Giveaway

Using natural products on my children is something that is very important to me. I want to know what all the ingredients are in a product and know that they are not toxic to my child's health. One of my favorite natural brands that I use for household cleaning is Seventh Generation. There has not been a product of theirs that I tried and did not like. So when I saw that they had come out with an entire line of natural baby bath and body products, I was ecstatic. Granted I technically don't have a "baby" anymore, but these are certainly still good for toddlers and even preschoolers.

About Wee Generation Products
- First complete line of USDA-certified biobased baby care products
- Endorsed by Healthy Child, Healthy World
- Products are gluten-free
- No synthetic fragrances, phthalates, parabens (all ingredients of concern)
- Tear-free, no worries about getting in eyes
- Non-toxic, biodegradable formula
- Made with natural ingredients that come from plants and minerals
- Made with extra-virgin olive oil to moisturize and protect
The most importance thing to me when deciding if I am going to use a product on my child is the ingredient list. And of course, Seventh Generation does not leave me disappointed. They list all of their ingredients on the product label and you won't find long lists of complicated chemical names. Just a nice short list of mostly biobased ingredients. I have been using the Foaming Shampoo & Wash on my toddler and the regular Shampoo & Wash on my kindergarteners and I have been very pleased with them both.  They lather very nicely and I love the light citrus scent. Too many baby products use lavender, which drives me bonkers, and I am glad they stayed away from that in this line.

The Baby Lotion is made with extra-virgin olive oil to moisturize and protect the skin. This also makes it good to use for baby massages. Baby massage is not something I ever tried when my boys were infants, though I really wish I had. Since they were all colicky due to a milk protein intolerance (causes intestinal discomfort and gas), I am sure they could have benefited from them. For more information on Infant Massage, watch the video below and visit: www.LiddleKidz.com.

Giveaway
Two (2) winners will each receive a set of Wee Generation products that includes one (1) each of the following:
Foaming Baby Shampoo & Wash
Baby Shampoo & Wash
Baby Bubble Bath
Baby Lotion
Baby Sunscreen
Diaper Cream

The average retail value of the prize is $50. Giveaway is open to US residents only and will end on November 21, 2012 at 12:01 AM EST. Please use the Rafflecopter form below. Good luck!

The Muppet Christmas Carol on Blu-ray

One of the many things that my family and I love about the holiday season are Christmas movie. Once we hit mid-November, we break out all of our Christmas DVDs and take turns watching them all. A few years ago I decided to buy The Muppet Christmas Carol on a whim. None of us had ever seen it but we all fell in love with it. Today for the first time, The Muppet Christmas Carol is available on Blu-ray and I highly recommend you add it to your Christmas movie collection.

The Muppet Christmas Carol is the classic Charles Dicken's tale of Ebenezer Scrooge but with The Muppets brand of humor that we all love. Kermit the Frog is Bob Cratchit, Miss Piggy is Emily Cratchit and Academy Award® winner Michael Caine as the cranky Mr. Scrooge. Of course all of your other favorite characters like Fozzie Bear, Gonzo and the hilarious old men Statler and Waldorf. This is also a musical movie with some catchy tunes that my boys love to sing along with.

Blu-ray Bonus Features
  • Disney Intermission: An all-new bonus feature. When the film is paused, fans can watch and “cluck-a-long” to five classic holiday-themed songs performed by the Muppets Chickens and chums.

  • Audio Commentary: All-new audio commentary with fan-favorite characters, Kermit, Rizzo, Gonzo, and more, all reflecting on their experience making “The Muppet Christmas Carol.”

  • Frogs, Pigs and Humbug: Unwrapping a New Holiday Classic: A Behind the Scenes Look: Hosted by director Brian Henson, Gonzo and Rizzo fans go behind-the-scenes of the making of “The Muppet Christmas Carol.”

  • Blooper Reel: “On the Set” Bloopers from the set of the film.

  • Pepe Profiles Gonzo:  “Portrait of the Artist as a Young Weirdo”: A special look at the man, the myth, the legend the Great Gonzo, hosted by the one and only Pepe the King Prawn.

  • Christmas Around the World: Gonzo and Rizzo take a look at how Christmas is celebrated all over the planet.
